How To Check Thermals From Ubuntu Terminal

Accessing thermal sensors through the terminal requires installing the lm-sensors package, probing the system for available sensors and finally checking the sensors output.

  1. Install: sudo apt install lm-sensors
  2. Probe sensors: sudo sensors-detect
  3. Follow the prompts answering YES or no
note: You might get Sorry, no sensors were detected. Continue to next step, regardless.
  4. Check thermals: sudo sensors
-or- monitor thermals continuously: sudo watch -n 1 sensors
