How To Disable PC Speaker Beeper Sound in Linux

Disabling the PC speaker sound entirely so that it does not trigger when reaching end of line or hitting incorrect hotkeys in various contexts.

Confirmed on Debian, OpenSUSE Tumbleweed; Linux 6.0.0-1-default

  1. sudo su
  2. rmmod pcspkr
  3. echo "blacklist pcspkr" >> /etc/modprobe.d/blacklist.conf
  4. reboot
